Professional Work and FashionTV

Sawa, can you tell us what led you to journalism? What do you think has prepared you for future opportunities in journalism?

I have been involved in journalism for a long time, since school. I realized I needed to develop in this field and obtain a fundamental education at a university in Warsaw, specializing in Journalism and International Relations. Thanks to my self-research about this profession in my first year of uni, I was far ahead in my skills compared to my classmates. In my second year, I was hired as a TV presenter at one of the largest production studios focused on gambling and poker sports, which broadcast its programs online 24/7 worldwide. The job was demanding, as we had to broadcast even at night in Warsaw due to the time difference with America. However, I am very grateful for this extensive experience, as my English significantly improved over the years, allowing me to communicate effectively with native speakers, which is incredibly helpful in my career now.

What do you enjoy most about your role with FashionTV?

I love engaging with creative minds, from designers to models, and being a part of major fashion events. However, the backstage does not always look as luxurious as the final segment that airs. The real work of a journalist is very challenging, and this is my favorite part of the job. Sometimes you have to push through crowds of fans, and sometimes a star will decide if they want to give you an interview based solely on your appearance, even though you represent one of the most famous TV channels. Occasionally, you have only a few seconds to convince a star to be filmed and just a minute for the segment. Therefore, the team must work cohesively, and you must have all the stars’ and main faces memorized.

About the Incident at Cannes Film Festival

Sawa, could you describe the incident with the security guard at the Cannes Film Festival?

The incident occurred on May 21, 2024, at the premiere of the French-Italian comedy “Marcello Mio.” I was invited to the premiere, and while on the red carpet at the Palais des Festivals et des Congrès, a security guard physically restrained me in what felt like a “bear hug.” The struggle nearly caused me to fall, and I was eventually escorted out through a back door, resulting in acute pain and psychological trauma.

Have you received any support or statements from other attendees who witnessed the incident?

Yes, several high-profile attendees, including Kelly Rowland and South Korean actor Yoona, have had similar confrontations with the same security guard. Their experiences and support have been crucial in highlighting the broader issues with the festival’s security protocols. Significant support has also come from Hollywood industry professionals. A multi-generational director, outraged by the actions of the festival representatives, noted that this behavior has been allowed to escalate due to a lack of consequences, adding that nothing like this would ever happen at film festivals in the US. Additionally, another producer of major Netflix projects is helping to seek justice in my case. At this moment, these individuals prefer to remain anonymous.

How has this experience impacted you personally and professionally?

This experience has been challenging both personally and professionally. It has caused significant emotional distress and harmed my reputation. Professionally, it has underscored the importance of standing up for one’s rights and has motivated me to sue the Cannes Film Festival and initiate the criminal case “Prejudice d’Image” with one of the most prominent lawyers, Alexander Dobrovinsky (@alexanderdobrovinsky), and his team. The process is already underway, and the team is working diligently on the French Riviera.

Interview with Philipp Plein

Sawa, what was it like interviewing Philipp Plein at the luxurious Jungle Du Roi villa in Cannes?

Philipp Plein is known for his grand and extravagant fashion shows in Cannes. Plein’s shows often feature performances by famous artists, and models showcase bold and striking outfits. Each of his shows becomes an unforgettable spectacle that captures the attention of the entire fashion industry. I was fortunate to make my way through a huge crowd of fans to meet Philipp, and I am very grateful for the attention he gave us for the interview. The villa’s opulence provided a perfect backdrop for discussing his innovative designs and the luxury fashion industry. The Cruise collection was inspired by the ’70s and ’80s, featuring many beautiful dresses that looked unique. He also shared some exclusive secrets for FTV, but you can hear about that and much more in the interview currently airing on the channel. I am impressed by his creative vision and business strategies, which were both enlightening and inspiring.

How do you feel about the opportunity to host such exclusive interviews, and what does it mean for your career?

When I interview popular personalities like Philipp Plein and notice details like him constantly adjusting his belt and checking his fly during our conversation, it means something significant to me. These moments motivate me to continue in journalism because, honestly, journalism itself can be quite a dull profession—you just can’t imagine. It’s only because of people like Philipp that I keep going to work.

Personal Insights and Future Plans

How did you get started in the modeling and television presenting industry?

It all began simply from YouTube videos when I was 14. I spent a long time developing skills in selecting topics and writing scripts, speech techniques, makeup, styling, and editing. YouTube allowed me to learn to become a one-person television expert, understanding all the processes. During my university studies, I started TikTok, and each video subsequently garnered millions of views. This led to recognition not only by viewers but also by advertisers and various industry professionals. As my popularity grew, new opportunities and doors opened for me.

The recognition from the industry for my unique look and potential led to my involvement in modeling. This recognition allowed me to participate in various international beauty contests, providing me with invaluable exposure and experience. A particularly memorable achievement was winning Miss Europe 2023, a moment that opened many doors for me.

My career naturally transitioned into television presenting, where I could combine my love for fashion with media skills. Alongside my modeling and presenting work, I’ve had the pleasure of appearing in music videos for top artists and even taking on roles in major films. For me, these creative endeavors aren’t just professional milestones; they are a natural extension of my everyday life and interests.

What advice would you give to young models and presenters aspiring to enter the fashion and entertainment industry?

The industry is incredibly competitive, so perseverance is key. Social media now has a colossal influence, and without it, you won’t be able to make a name for yourself worldwide or secure great contracts. Network with industry professionals all over the world through social media, represent yourself on Instagram like it’s your most important portfolio, and never stop honing your skills. Remember, it’s not just about looking good; it’s about creating a brand that resonates and stands the test of time. Moreover, participating in international beauty contests can provide invaluable exposure and experience. Always be open to diverse roles, whether in music videos or film, as these experiences enrich your creative journey and open new avenues for success.

Your individuality is your greatest asset in this industry.
